Bucharest - Day 1
Had a good sleep for a change, we were up at 7 am instead of the usual 6 am. This Hotel provides a great array of foods for breakfast, so we enjoyed some cereal and an omelette. We than enquired about the HOHO Buses, got some local money, and went off to catch the bus. It did eventually come and we were one of only 6 on board. Of course, it had to start to rain just then…luckily I had packed our spray jackets, so we didn’t get soaked, just a bit damp. There was really nothing much happening in the city at 10 am, but around 11 am things got a lot busier. We did the loop in the HOHO Bus, and despite the rain, we enjoyed seeing the sights. There were a few very nice buildings and quite a few a little unloved. Their Parliament Building is VERY BIG and looked quite beautiful. Were not sure if you could go inside, but Dave just looked it up and one can, for a price…and extra for a camera. Unfortunately the Arc De Triumph is being refurbished, so it is shrouded in cloth which depicts what it should look like. We had hoped we may have been able to go up that, but…no, not at this time. We did see a really big Park where usually, on a nice day, they tell us that it is crowded. Not so today though. Near there is a Cultural Village where there are replicas of how houses were through the years. We might go back later and have a look at these…sounds interesting, if it stops raining. We have been lucky to only have a couple of days of rain in the time we have been over here, so we mustn’t complain.
