Another day in Bordeaux

We were able to sleep in a bit today. Breakfast was strange as they had the breakfast room arranged in different areas for different groups. Getting an espresso coffee turned into a bit of a trial. Dave was “chastised” for trying to use a coffee machine that was not in his area (there was none in ours).  He had to wait until the coast was clear before using the “out of area” machine.
Some of the people opted to visit a big sand dune somewhere out of Bordeaux. We chose to walk up to the river and then into town. The walk into town is quite pleasant with much activity on and off the water.
We did a bit of shopping, had a bite to eat and then went to catch a tram back to the hotel.
Of course Dave had to have a coffee before catching the tram.  We ended up sitting with two Scottish fellows who were travelling around France. Their wives had sent them away to give them a bit of peace & quiet.
Then onto the tram and a walk back to the hotel.
All of us then went out to St Emiion - not far from Bordeaux – where we had a tour of a winery with a taste of some red wine. There a lot of wineries around Bordeaux and the visit to this one was interesting. The bottles of wine ranged from quite to very expensive. So we bought none.
Dinner was at the Hotel tonight. Like all the evening meals we are having they are different?? We think it is just that the French eat differently to us.

Up early tomorrow and off to Lourdes.

  1. Woah! Using the wrong coffee machine! Lucky the French have dispensed with the guillotine.
